Albania from the mountains to the sea – an opportunity to visit one of the secret jewels of Europe to explore the mountain scenery, wildlife and culture of Albania, where our partner organisation is developing a model of tourism intended to demonstrate that locally involved, more sustainable ventures can be successful alternatives to mass tourism.
We have done our best to keep costs down and the fee for the trip will be £595 which includes meals, travel and accommodation for the six nights in Albania and the services of the British and the local guides. The single room supplement will be £100. Participants will need to make their own way to Corfu and thence with the group by hydrofoil to Albania.

This will be a general interest holiday not a specialist one. The wildlife (especially the birdlife) is impressive. You can expect to spend time trying to identify wildlife to help to attach value to the area for future funding and conservation, but we will also spend time visiting archaeological/cultural sites and interacting with local people.
This is fundamentally a walking holiday and to get the most out of it, you should be able to walk for several hours and/or up to 12km per day in rough terrain on tracks that can best be described as goat tracks.

Leaders/Guides: your British guides will be Jonathan (Jay) Bradley and Gwil Wren. Jay is a self employed ecological consultant, trainer and ecotour leader. He has worked and travelled extensively in the Balkans, Adriatic and Eastern Mediterranean, including several months in Albania, and has contributed to the Bradt travel guide. Gwil worked in government conservation agencies for 30 years, he is a director of EuCAN, he has travelled and worked in the Balkans, and is currently involved in initiatives addressing rewilding and sustainable forestry/agriculture. There will be a local interpreter/guide, and if the group is large enough to require a larger minibus, we will use a local driver.
