Following our very successful weekend in April this year (see the earlier news item), we are now planning to run a day course based in Cerne Abbas area, exploring the former deer park belonging to the then powerful Cerne Abbey, and the enclosures, hedgelines and trees in the vicinity of the Cerne Giant. Dr Oliver Rackham is perhaps the UK’s leading authority on ancient woodlands, veteran trees and the history of the countryside and the day is guaranteed to cover a very wide range of topics including veteran trees, ancient hedges, woodbanks, common land, woodland ecology, building materials, geology and fungi.
The programme for the day can be seen here .
The fee for the course is £50 including refreshments in the morning and tea and cake in Cerne Abbas in the afternoon. Please book in advance by paying by BACS directly into the EuCAN CIC bank account. Name: EuCAN Community Interest Company; Sort Code: 08.92.99; Account number: 65472987, putting your name and Rackham as the reference.
