Maintaining our links with La Brenne November 2017

The EuCAN team of 10 have completed another successful 8 night visit to our friends in La Brenne where we worked for 5 days, enjoyed excellent food, wine and hospitality and saw some wonderful birds (not to forget the Red Admirals still on the wing). Our work included clearing tree heather and other scrub from the land round Ricot lake, opening up more of the marlpits close to Les Essarts to improve the habitat for Pond Tortoises and dragonflies, clearing bushes and trees to make a corridor between two Alcon Blue habitats at Ėtang La Touche, cutting more ash trees round the edges of the meadow at La Touche (see photo below) to increase the area for the Snakeshead Fritillaries to flower in, and clearing decades of bramble and thorn growth from one of the fields at Picardon just up from the Maison de la Nature at the Chérine Reserve.
