Our funding by the Patsy Wood Trust has sadly come to an end but we are hoping to restart the conservation work in the Cerne Abbas valley early in January 2019. We have at least six Thursdays booked in the area of the Cerne Giant which will involve reducing the encroaching ash, thorn and bramble from the valuable chalk downland habitat. Surveys of the butterflies there this summer and last show very encouraging increases in the numbers of the target species, Marsh Fritillary and Duke of Burgundy.
