Another productive day at Bottom Coombe Quarry Wildlife Conservation site on Portland October 2026

We worked with the a group of 20 EuCAN Dorset Midweek Volunteers to clear and burn up Buddleia and Cotoneaster scrub in the SE corner of the site – and also burnt up material that had accumulated through the dry summer months when it was too risky to light fires. Of course as usual we had to cart away large numbers of bottles, cans and other discarded refuse!

On Sunday November 1st another volunteer group, The Dorset Countryside Volunteers, will be with us at Silklake Quarry, using handtools to clear more Buddleia and bramble from the banks.
