Wyke Farm, Chedington, bio-surveying weekend

Wyke Farm Chedington

The land area linked to Wyke Farm is now around 1000 acres and includes the wonderful Whitevine Farm which is just over the Somerset border and part of which is a SSSI hay meadow.

The area is hugely varied and includes coniferous and deciduous woodland, hazel coppice, a lake and reedbed, withybeds, extensively-grazed pastures and wildflower meadows. As a result the biodiversity is fantastic.

A comprehensive survey of this land was carried out between 2006 and 2010 and we held our first weekend event in 2018. The owners are very keen to continue this on a regular basis to establish a public database of information about the site to inform the management of the woodland and the farmland. For the results of this work and for records from previous EuCAN weekends, please see the EuCAN website: https://eucan.org.uk/uk/dorset/chedington-and-the-wyke-farm-bioblasts/

The photo album from the 2025 weekend is on the eucan Flickr site: here.
