Curtis Fields Weymouth: summer maintenance jobs in the SNCI and SANG
Curtis Fields SNCI and SANG Wyke Regis, Weymouth
We are going to continue with the job of cutting the bramble and blackthorn regrowth and rank grass from some of the eastern area of the Curtis Field site with the help of the Dorset Council curt and collect machine. We need to widen the firebreaks for the summer in case there is a fire risk….
There will also be scrub regrowth to check on the SNCI area and an owl box to instal for next season.
The butterflies and wildflowers have responded very quickly to the work we have done there over the last two years. We are also very careful to leave plenty of nesting places for the abundant bird life there. It wasn’t long ago that these fields were cattle pastures, a farm between Wyke Regis and Weymouth.
Meet at 8.30am at the southern end of Markham Avenue where there is now a gate to give access to the SNCI. see map. If you arrive later, please walk up to find us.
