Alners Gorse Butterfly Reserve
The Brown Hairstreak is one of the target species in our management of Alners Gorse. The eggs overwinter on young blackthorn shoots.
Today we will be continuing with the autumn’s work at Alners Gorse: brushcutting the rides, opening up the corridors in the scrub blocks and burning if conditions allow.Everyone is welcome!
We shall aim to start at 8.30 a.m. but please walk down to find us if you arrive later. Bring lunch and hot drinks, and loppers and bowsaw if you have them. Brushcutter and chainsaw operators please bring PPE.

Our conservation grazing ponies are in an area of our neighbours’ land at Rooksmoor at the moment.
