Routine maintenance work at the Quarr Nature Reserve and Terrace Meadow SNCI

The Quarr Local Nature Reserve and Terrace Meadow SNCI, Sherborne

The Quarr is Sherborne’s local nature reserve, an area of young woodland, scrub and grassland off the Bristol Road.
Today’s jobs at the Quarr will include cutting back the vegetation that is threatening to suffocate the shrubs we planted at the western end several years ago and cutting and raking off the ‘Portland Bank’ and any other jobs that need doing, then going on to the Terrace Meadows SNCI in mid-morning to tidy up the tree stakes in the lower Terraces area, re-staking those trees that need it. .
Meet at 9am at the meeting point by the Mermaid pub.

We will provide the tools for the work, but please bring your own mug and refreshments, your packed lunch and working gloves with you.
If you need a lift, please contact me in advance of the task (07981.776767 or email nigelspring@yahoo.co.uk) – it might be possible to arrange something.
If you are a chainsaw or brushcutter user, you will need your own PPE and you should have attended a refresher course in the last five years.
