Lankham Bottom Butterfly Reserve - ragwort control

between Cattistock village and the A37

These will be our first visits here this summer to control ragwort and we will be concentrating on the 50m band round our perimeter to reduce the threat of seeds spreading onto the neighbouring land.

If you can help us with the cutting or pulling, or with the collecting up of the material for dumping, please let me know. If you have a ragfork or a small longhandled border fork, please bring it. We will provide the other tools for the work.

Ragwort is a valuable plant for insects (not just Cinnabar moths) so I think we have to learn to live with it. Please join us if you can. (let me know in advance if possible).
We shall be meeting at 9 am at the reserve entrance on the Tuesday and 8.30 on the Wednesday and Thursday – but park inside the second gate and walk to find us if you arrive late (see map).
Bring your own gloves, refreshments and lunch, and make sure you wear tick-proof clothing.
