Curtis Fields Weymouth: grass cutting on the SANG to improve the firebreaks and widen the glades

With the extreme temperatures and droughts likely to continue, we need to widen the firebreaks and the glades through the blocks of rank grass on the SANG for the summer and rake up and take away the cut material. The brushcutter operators will be cutting the grass and the supporting team will be raking up into piles for the truck to pick up and take away to the dump points. Please join us if you can!
The butterflies and wildflowers have responded very quickly to the work we have done at Curtis Fields over the last three years and we are very pleased with the progress so far. It wasn’t long ago that these fields were cattle pastures, a farm between Wyke Regis and Weymouth.
Meet at 9am at the southern end of Markham Avenue where there is now a gate to give access to the SNCI. see map. If you arrive later, please walk up to find us.
