Today we shall be cutting and raking off the grass in most of this field in order to gradually enhance the floweriness of the area – we hope after two unavoidable postponements! (part of it is being allowed to grow long as an area for voles and other wildlife to thrive)
ALL WELCOME! It is a very lovely little site.
Sadly the grass is not of a good enough quality to make hay with – especially this year when it is more like straw! So we shall be raking it off and dumping it a pile on the edge where the grass snakes and slow-worms will appreciate it.
Earlier we cut off the hogweed seedheads in an attempt to stop it spreading.
Meet round the back of the field for a 9am start – come and find us if you arrive later. Bring lunch and gloves and wear tickproof clothing.
