Curtis Fields SNCI Weymouth

off Cockles Lane (turn off the B3156)

We (EuCAN CIC) have been asked to help carry out habitat management work on the Site of Nature Conservation Interest beside the new housing development at Curtis Fields. There is a lot of catching up to do particularly on reducing the scrub which is rapidly closing up the network of glades and clearings which are vital for the wildflowers and insects.
We normally aim to meet on the third Friday of each month at 8.30am, but today is an extra day to enable us to finish off the winter work. Meet at 8.30am in Cockles Lane or if you arrive later, walk along the lane to the entrance path into the Site of Nature Conservation Interest to find us – see map.

We will provide the tools for the work, but please bring your own mug, hot drinks and snacks, your packed lunch and working gloves with you. If you have a bowsaw, secateurs and/or loppers please bring them.

If you are a chainsaw or brushcutter user, you will need your own PPE and you should have attended a refresher course in the last five years.
My phone number in case you cannot find us is 07981 776767.
If you would like to help, please get in touch by email or text. We would like to build up a team of volunteers for this site so please get in touch if you would like to join it.
