Because of the weather foreecast for Sunday we will be working with the Dorset Countryside Volunteers at Curtis Fields on Saturday 18th not Sunday 19th.
We have been making great progress on this SNCI (and the adjacent land – the ‘SANG’) over the past 2 years, removing the scrub that has developed here since the farming here stopped early in the late 90’s/ early 2000’s. The result has been a huge increase in the numbers of wildflowers and insects (especially butterflies). We will always leave enough scrub and woodland for the nesting birds and other wildlife. For this visit to Curtis Fields we will be working with the Dorset Countryside Volunteers, cutting out some new areas in the scrub and burning if conditions permit.
Meet at 9.30am at the access off Markham Avenue or walk to find us if you arrive later – see map.

We will provide the tools for the work, but please bring your own mug, hot drinks and snacks, your packed lunch and working gloves with you. If you have a bowsaw, secateurs and/or loppers please bring them. My phone number in case you cannot find us is 07981 776767.
If you plan to join us, it helps with our planning if you let me know by email or text. – though this is not essential.
We would like to build up a team of volunteers for this site so please get in touch if you would like to join it.
