Broadcroft Quarry Butterfly Reserve, Portland - conservation workparty
Today we working at Broadcroft Quarry Butterfly Reserve, continuing to cut the invasive Buddleia, bramble and thorn regrowth particularly on the new scrapes that were made last spring, and clearing the bramble that has been left exposed where the ponies grazed this last winter.
The Dorset branch of Butterfly Conservation and EuCAN will be collaborating on regular tasks on a variety of sites on Portland usually on Fridays and will always welcome new volunteers!
Meet at 9am next to the recycling centre at Broadcroft Quarry or walk to find us if you arrive later. Bring loppers, bowsaw and secateurs if you have them – and your refreshments and lunch.

We created a number of new scrapes on the reserve last year to encourage the Silver-studded Blue butterflies and the ants that tend them.
