Butterfly Conservation (Dorset branch) visit to Wild Woodbury Re-wilding project at Bere Regis

Bere Regis Dorset

Following the fascinating talk that Seb the DWT warden gave at the October BC Dorset AGM, we have arranged for him to show us Wild Woodbury on two dates in the coming months – Saturday January 20th 10am – 1pm mainly for winter wildlife especially birds – and Saturday May 4th for the early summer wildlife including singing birds (It is International Dawn Chorus weekend).
We hope to see plenty of good birds on the January 20th tour – winter thrushes, larks and finches, and possibly Short-eared Owl and Hen Harrier both of which have been recorded there recently – and it will be a chance to experience the extent of the rewilding site. As a result of the winter rain, the ground is extremely wet so wellies are essential and bring walking poles if you use them.
Meet in the car park shown on the map for a 10am start. The access track to the parking area is opposite Elder Road, off Southbrook Road. n.b. Some satnavs will try to take people to another entrance where there is no vehicular access, so best to aim for Southbrook Road.
Numbers are limited so booking is essential for this visit. Please email with your phone number in case we have to alter the plans.
