Alners Gorse Butterfly Reserve

Hazelbury Bryan, Dorset

We have a busy programme of autumn and winter work to carry out on this reserve including some routine cutting of young scrub regrowth and some more major scrub removal where the open habitat is getting increasingly encroached on by blackthorn and willow. We have cleared a large area of blackthorn where it has become overstood and need help burning up the brash. There will also be plenty to do for brushcutter operators but also enough for handtool users too.

We shall meet at the reserve entrance at 8.30am but walk down to find us if you arrive later. Ignore the road closed signs as there is access to the reserve and the village. Bring gloves, lunch and refreshments and loppers, bowsaw and secateurs if you have them.
