SOLAGRO
SOLAGRO is an NGO established in 1981 in Toulouse, south-west France, to promote sustainable energy and agriculture, and respect for the natural environment. It has published numerous advisory and educational leaflets and books, for both lay-person and specialist, and has initiated and participated in many projects aimed at improving understanding and practices in these areas. Its Agro-environmental Unit, headed up by Philippe Pointereau, an agro-ecology and agro-forestry specialist, is heavily involved in working with regional farmers to encourage the valuing, continuation and development of sustainable traditional farming practices. This includes schemes promoting the maintenance and planting of traditional (pré-verger) orchards.
