In collaboration with Forum Synergies, EuCAN hosted the first of a series of Sustainable Forestry Workshops over the weekend of March 17th – 20th. The programme consisted of indoor presentations and a day of site visits. Attendance at the conference was free with up to 50% funding towards travel and other expenses on a discretionary basis. Over 50 people were involved over the weekend from a range of different European countries.

The challenge is now to take the broad principles and build them into projects and initiatives across Europe so that we can create a positive groundswell to influence the public, decision makers and of course woodland owners. It is hoped that the next conference will be held in Serbia in the autumn of 2016.
